 Sad

It seems he had some demons he just couldn't escape from--I hope he's found some peace.

Daniel Boone was a man, yes a big man....

Bye bye, Fess Parker!  I adored you when I was a kid, first as Davey Crockett and then as Daniel Boone.  You were beloved of a whole generation of American kids.  When I became a grown-up I even got to visit your winery in Northern California and found out you made excellent use of the fruit of the vine as well.

Blake Carrington, Charles Townsend, Bentley Gregg and even his brief but memorable appearance in Scrooged!, John Forsythe was one of those actors that nearly everyone recognizes, even those too young to know why.  I had a crush on him as a kid, watching reruns of "Bachelor Father" from the late 1950s - early 1960s when I came home from school in the afternoon.

It is very sad to learn that he's no longer with us.

Dixie Carter passed, today.

I could expound for days and days about just how much I admire and thoroughly adore this amazing woman, but not without looking like a complete freak show.  Suffice to say, this one hit me hard. Sad

Yes, right there with you -- I got very weepy last night when I read that.  And I was kind of stunned, honestly.  Who would have though Hal Holbrook would outlive her?  (not wishing the dear man any ill...just surprised)

Me too. Both on my admiration for her and stunned that she's gone. Sad

I can't believe that we've lost ANOTHER Golden Girl!  Godspeed, Blanche.  Try not to pinch any angel butts in heaven.

R.I.P. to one of my journalistic heroes, Daniel Schorr.  During the 70s, he exposed so many dirty secrets that he became a role model for journalistic integrity and tenacity - something many of today's so-called journalists could learn from.  In his later years, he became a trusted voice on NPR - along with Walter Cronkite and Charles Kuralt, his was a voice I always trusted, a trust he had earned from this nation.

I am such a news-geek, I'm actually sitting here tearing up.  But he was a gentleman, a tough opponent and someone I admired greatly.
